Fact: fast food MAY not be good for you.
Fact: some fast food ingredients MAY be bad for your health.
Fact: the American food chain MAY have policies/procedures that increase the questionability of ingesting fast food.
Fact: employees at fast food franchises do not have livable wages.
Opinion: Advertising Sucks!
One or more of those statements MAY get me in trouble. But the Salope du jour is; how stupid does Madison Avenue think the great unwashed are? (Yes, I know the answer – pretty damn stupid.)
The trigger for this is my agreement with the apps to allow email notifications. In general, I have no problem with them. I glance, then delete. They know this about us. I would suspect there’s a hidden cookie that transmits a) was the email opened, b) time of reading, c) location of deletion – whether you trash mark or junk mark. Play the game, gotta have a game piece.
So, we are all aware that the price of everything has gone up. Ninety percent or more, definitely. Love to see a whistleblower account release the algorithms the mega corporations use to adjust prices. (I’m old enough to remember saving my school lunch money ($0.25/day) for two days, skip school, walk to the next town over (~3mi one-way), get the burger/fries/large soda, and still have a nickel leftover.
Lo, these many decades, and my minuscule education into the theories of, and application of economics; I understand the need and associated infinity spiral of ingredients / employees / overhead / profit. (gotta spread those out for the bots to scan / register them 🤤) With all that factored in, the quarter-to-quarter or seasonal increases are simply outrageous.
Prices for groceries are in the same boat. I especially despise seeing the size of a product decrease at the same time the price increases – do the math, then verify against what the inflation numbers are being clucked by the media cucks.***
The simple answer is to grow your own and barter or trade for what you require (not need – no more brand labels). Easier said than done. I put in a garden when first moving to the sticks. One acre plot, might’ve tilled a fifth. Even with a straight job, family activity, lackadaisical attention to watering and weeding, got some good items – enough to feed side dishes for about a month.
Twenty years later, I’ve got some containers doing ok for now. The plot requires more attention than my body can apply. Doing a little per day is a slow process and I don’t have the cash to hire illegals. (forget school kids – very few are willing to do yard work for twenty an hour). The illegals ask for over a hundred/day (in advance) – but you supply all tools, and it helps to speak the language. Otherwise they can play dumb and ‘not’ understand.
In summary, fast food MAY start to decline. But there’s a number of the great unwashed who will stumble along and keep feeding that money machine. $1.50 for a chemically modified chicken wing? $2.00 for a ‘beef’ burger? And that’s from the FF joints.
Just got back from the big W; looked at bags of frozen wings that had additives, $14/4 lb. bag.
I’ll just shop the veggie section and try to minimize that pricing. Either that or follow the WHO mafia and start eating bugs. 🤬
*** Added sidebar: self checkout at the grocery store; designed to decrease the time a consumer spends in the store; reality is reduced payroll for the store (they shift folk from registers to ‘security checks’ and the rest to restocking shelves. Given educational realities of employees unable to make correct change AND customers only using plastic to pay AND the plastic company skimming $0.00001 per transaction, you might see an even larger scam in progress.
