What’s holding a record, when I just turn around and set another?
Life truly gets in the way of life. Or existence. Or existential existence. Sheeple busy, nom-nom, shit, sleep, repeat. And for what? What is (if any) the goal? Gather the most gold? Power for the sake of power? Create the world’s largest ball of bellybutton lint?
If you take stock of your life today (whatever it is), and imagine yourself exactly one-hundred years ago, what would be the difference? Don’t focus on the amenities (indoor plumbing, electric lights, etc.), but what you would be doing. Possibly something like that which you do today.
Extend that thought backwards for each hundred years. The main difference is speed. Moore’s Law on computers can apply to the human condition. We do (relatively) more in the same space of time. But everyone/thing is also operating at increased speeds, are we accomplishing more? Or as Mel Brooks put it, “Or are we just jerking off?”
